Transportation to and from France
There are several ways to Le Puy en Velay to go. The first is by car, Le Puy en Velay is about 1000 km (± 9:30 hours) driving from Dover. The major disadvantage of traveling by car you car two to three weeks in Le Puy leave it (mostly paid parking). Plus, you must travel back to Le Puy en Velay to pick up your car.
A second is possible by plane to fly to Lyon and then by train to Le Puy, the disadvantage is that you St. Jean du Gard to travel back to the airport in Lyon. Another possibility is to fly back from Montpellier or Marseille.
Our preference was to travel by train to do. You can also turn any station in the Netherlands easily train to Brussels South (Midi), from here you take the TGV to Lyon Part Dieu. From Lyon you travel through St. Etienne (transition) with a regional train to Le Puy en Velay.
From St Jean du Gard to Nimes you have to travel from there by TGV to Brussels South (Midi) address. This can be in two ways. You can take the bus from St Jean du Gard take. This takes approximately 1.5 hours to Nimes. But you can as we did in St Jean du Gard to take the tourist train Anduze and then from there take the bus to Nimes. We had the 10:30 train to St Jean to Anduze, however note that this year may change. If you plan to do this, take a look at the station to the departure, this can be done on the day you arrive in St Jean, the GR 70, past the station. About 45 minutes later you come in to Anduze, you've still plenty of time to the bus timetable at the tourist office to call if you're lucky even a bite to eat. The bus left just before half past one the afternoon, the same bus which was at 13.00 from St. Jean was gone.
